What is the healing TAO?…
Universal Healing Tao
The global Taoist system was founded by Mantak Chia.
DDeveloped by Mantak Chia, the Universal Healing Tao effectively combines Taoist meditation, qigong, tai chi, and other traditional healing methods. This holistic system supports stress reduction, promotes overall health, and contributes to longevity. Practicing these exercises strengthens your inner vitality, promotes deep relaxation, and increases mental clarity. At the same time, new neural connections are activated in the brain, sharpening consciousness and leading to greater vitality and life energy overall.
-
Mantak Chia as founder of the worldwide System
The son of chinese parents, he grew up in Thailand and was introduced to Buddhist meditation as a young child. Later as a student in Hong Kong he was taught by the Taoist Master Yi Eng in the Taoist philosophy. From that time Master Chia began practicing these intensive Taoist exercises, circulating his Qi, as well as refining and strengtening his Qi. Master Yi Eng guided him through successive levels of Taoist inner alchemy and authorised Mantak Chia to teach and to heal with his acquired Taoist skills.
Multiple Branches are creating the international System
In the beginning we work with postnatal Qi on a physical level. In the basic exercises we learn to make our body more flexible and more permeable to the flow of Qi. We clear, clean and strengthen our body and mind, and our spirit becomes more calm and relaxed. We do this with love for ourselves. Only when we stop fighting ourselves, judging ourselves, and rejecting ourselves is it possible for deep harmony and love to awaken in us and grow.
Starting with the Basics in a Year Class
Every illness or ailment originates in the mental or psychological realm. For this reason, it makes sense to include all aspects—body, mind, and psyche—in a spiritual practice to begin the healing process. In the "Tao Basics" course, we practice the various basic exercises associated with the different seasons. It's a wonderful course that provides many insights into the Healing Tao, and it allows us to get to know the five elements within us in detail.
Learning the inner smile - six healing sounds - microcosmic orbit
The basic practices like the Inner Smile, the Six Healing Sounds, and the Microcosmic Orbit reconnect our physical existence with our mind and spirit. We create a moment that makes it possible for us to be loving and positive toward ourselves, and in that moment healing can take place. This has an effect on our physical condition. When we are able to see ourselves, in our mind, positively and lovingly, we set up a resonance that can be felt in all the cells of our being.
More Branches like: Iron shirt Chi Kung, Tao Yin, Tai Chi, Healing Love
There are multiple branches in the Healing Tao, such as Iron Shirt Chi Kung, Tao Yin, Tai Chi Chi Kung, Hitting, and Breathing techniques in which we learn more about different manifestations of Qi – the qualities and aspects of the Five Elements within us.
Inner Alchemy: Fusion of the five elements
When we are well arrived in ourselves, and the Five Elements (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal) are nice and familiar inside us, we can proceed to the first level of inner alchemy. Here we are going to the junction of prenatal and postnatal Qi. In the Fusion of the Five Elements, we are not just working with the purely physical aspect of the five elements within us. We are also connecting with the five energy bodies of the elements, the five Shen. Energy channels, in which the Qi was flowing in the prenatal state, are opened with a condensed Qi pearl and become permeable. With this practice it is possible to raise our consciousness and effect a deeper transformation or opening in ourselves. For many years now I teach the Fusion 1,2 and 3 in a five day retreat to the time of chinese new year. This is for all participants a powerful clearing input and the energy of the retreat is carrying us for a while.
Inner Alchemy for creating Chi: Kan & Li Practice
After Fusion there are further levels in inner alchemy to explore – Lesser Kan & Li, Greater Kan & Li, and Greatest Kan & Li. In these practices we create our own Qi for self-healing.
Taoist Belly Massage: Healing the second Brain
Besides the self-healing arts, there are also therapeutic branches of the Healing Tao, such as belly massage, called Chi Nei Tsang, for detoxifying and clearing the internal organs. The belly is our second brain and has a direct influence on our life and actions from a subconscious level, similar to how the head-brain influences us mentally.
Spiritual Healing - Cosmic Healing
The branch of Cosmic Healing effects energetic healing for oneself or for others. Here we get connected to the Qi forces from heaven and earth for resolving physical and energetic blockage. Very sensitive healers and clients can with Cosmic Healing reach very deep levels of our life (past life memories, prenatal issues, incarnation issues, and so on).
Healing Love - Transformation of sexual Energy
For the branch of the Healing Love, Master Chia is well-known worldwide. In this branch we teach different exercises for men and women to get in touch with their own sexual energy. The goal of this practice is to refine, transform, and preserve our sexual energy, making this strong life-force energy available for our whole system. This works especially well if we meet ourselves lovingly, and if we are able to be in positive touch with ourselves in the basic practice.

Julia Nitzsche - Senior Instructor
„To teach is to touch a life forever.“
Since 2001 I have been familiar with the Healing Tao according to Mantak Chia.
During a very busy period in my life, I attended a weekend seminar on “Healing Love for Women” and was first introduced to the practices of the Universal Healing Tao. Looking back, I like to describe my first impression of the Healing Tao as love at first sight. Although I had no prior experience with Taoism, the practices were easy to integrate into my daily life, and after a short time I began to feel tangible, beneficial results within myself.
In my many years of teaching as a Healing Tao instructor, I have repeatedly noticed that through the practice, energy from unprocessed trauma begins to move. As a trained trauma therapist, I approach the exercises in a trauma-sensitive manner and welcome the personal healing processes that unfold in my students.

Senior Instructor Julia Nitzsche
Practicing the Mantak Chia system since 2001
During a busy period in my life, I attended the weekend seminar “Healing Love for Women” and was introduced to Healing TAO. It was love at first sight. The exercises were easy to incorporate into my daily routine and quickly brought about noticeable improvements. I soon wanted to learn more from the system.
Meditation practice since my youth
Since I was 17, I’ve practiced contemplative meditations from Christianity and Buddhism, which raised many inner questions: How do I let go of emotions? How do I forgive? How do I find inner peace when I’m seething with rage?
Mindfulness and the Transformation of Negativity
I found real answers in 2002 at my first Fusion Retreat with Gabrielle Euteneuer. Through inner alchemy, I learned to transform negativity into positive energy. The TAO practice had now won me over completely. Fusion Meditation became a personal milestone.
The depth of Healing TAO convinced me and awakened the desire to pass it on.
Certified Instructor since 2004
In the spring of 2004, I met Master Mantak Chia at a seminar in Frankfurt. Despite my experience with other Healing TAO teachers, I was inspired by his new, profound insights.
In the summer of 2004, I participated in the international instructor training at the TAO Garden in Northern Thailand and became a “Certified Instructor” for Basics, Healing Love, TAO Yin, Tai Chi Chi Kung 1, and Iron Shirt Qi Gong.
In November 2004, I led my first weekend seminar, “Healing Love for Women,” in Berlin. Since then, I have been teaching various branches of the Healing TAO System.
Appointed Senior Instructor in 2019
Further qualifications followed, including: certification in Fusion 1, 2, and 3 in 2010; Cosmic Healing 1 Teacher certification in 2017; and Senior Teacher certification in the system in 2019. In 2023, I received certification in Iron Shirt 3 (Bone Marrow Nei Gong). My qualification as a Senior Teacher now also allows me to train instructors myself.
Association Board
From 2019 to April 2024, I served as vice chair of the Universal TAO Germany association.
Path of Inner Alchemy
Since the fall of 2004, I have been walking the Path of Inner Alchemy in Healing TAO. I attended courses with Barry Spendlove, Juan Li, and Michael Winn, and from 2006 to 2020, I regularly participated in retreats with Michael Winn to progress through all levels of inner alchemy. These experiences deepened my understanding of the inner TAO. In 2018, an inner TAO source opened within me, from which I have been teaching ever since and integrating deep knowledge into my courses.
Accompanying Work with the Book I Ching
Since 2004, I have been using Richard Wilhelm’s I Ching to address important life questions. In 2024, I discovered Hanna Moog, attended her seminar in May, and have since been an enthusiastic reader and practitioner of her works and those of Carol Anthony, which have given me new insights into the “I Ching.”
Licensed naturopath since 1995
Since 1995, I have been working as an alternative practitioner specializing in homeopathy, acupuncture, systemic structural constellations, and trauma therapy in Berlin-Wilmersdorf. I treat babies, children, and adults. My nearly 30 years of healing experience inform my Taoist teaching.

I’ve been participating for years and am always surprised by how profound the impact is. Julia Nitzsche is very empathetic; she explains and demonstrates everything in detail. She also addresses individual questions and needs very well. All courses are conducted using a handout that you can refer back to later. The result: greater self-awareness! Fantastic! Thank you for that!

Julia offers a rich, healing, and complementary learning and practice environment that bridges the gap between theoretical instruction and meditative Qigong practice. Her courses and events take place in a safe and supportive setting. In small groups, participants have the opportunity to both experience Taoist wisdom and put it into practice. I’ve always found it to be a very enriching group experience and a wonderful opportunity to refresh my own knowledge. Thank you very much!

Julia Nitzsche has been my Qigong teacher for the past 5 years. It all began with a course at the adult education center—and I had serious reservations at first. That weekend’s theme was “Healing Love for Women.” At the time, that was anything but a comfortable topic for me; it felt more like a minefield. The unique experience I was able to have left a deep impression on me and shaped who I am.
Julia teaches with deep respect and from a wealth of experience, with love and wisdom. She encourages participants to trust their own perceptions, to sense their boundaries and to respect them absolutely, while at the same time gently encouraging them to open themselves up to new experiences. Not just in this course. Julia’s teaching is wonderfully well-structured and conveys powerful, healing knowledge in an almost playfully lighthearted way. Audio recordings of the courses help students continue practicing at home. The healing processes that are set in motion are long-lasting.
